ModaMortgages was created by Chetwood Bank, a UK digital bank, whose focus since 2016 has been to use technology and targeted products to make people better off.
Chetwood Bank has launched a number of brands across savings and unsecured credit for customers with complex needs, and we’re now bringing our approach and expertise to the specialist buy to let mortgage market.
As a specialist buy to let lender, ModaMortgages provides buy to let mortgages for a variety of landlords, including small or large portfolios, limited companies, individuals, first-time buyers and first-time landlords. We’ll also lend on HMOs and MUFBs.

As the Group Chairman of Chetwood Financial, Ian provides leadership of the Board. He’s been working with ModaMortgages since 2021 where he’s been instrumental in strategy, design and the launch of the mortgage business. In his executive career, Ian was the CEO and founder of Charter Court Financial Services (CCFS) which, via its brand Precise Mortgages, grew from launch to be one of the largest buy to let and residential specialist mortgage lenders in the UK. Charter Court gained banking permissions in 2015 and launched Charter Savings Bank the same year. Ian led CCFS through its listing on the FTSE 250 in 2017. Ian has worked in financial services for over 30 years.
Chief Executive Officer
Paul joined Chetwood Bank as Chief Executive Officer in 2024, bringing more than 25 years of experience working in financial services to the role. With a track record of nurturing businesses from start-up, to transforming divisions of large banks, Paul is passionate about delivering great customer and business outcomes. Before joining Chetwood Bank, Paul was Chief Executive Officer of Jamaica National Bank. Prior to Jamaica National Bank, Paul spent six years as an asset manager at Pollen Street Capital, where he led the investment into Tandem Bank, as well as previously holding executive roles with Lloyds Bank, Barclays and RBS. Paul was also the co-founder of 118 118 Money and has served as a non-executive director and board advisor for businesses and trade associations across the sector. Paul is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and holds an MBA in International Strategic Leadership.
Simon is the executive responsible for all aspects of finance and treasury at ModaMortgages. With over 15 years of experience in the challenger bank and non-bank FI space, he holds extensive knowledge and specialisation in Liability Management, Treasury, and Capital Markets. As a senior finance expert, Simon was a key member of the senior management team taking Charter Court Financial Services through its 2017 IPO. He has also acted as Group Director of Capital Markets and held several senior positions at Fitch Ratings.
With over 30 years' experience in financial services, Andrew has led the strategy and implementation for several major business transformations and launches, including that of LiveLend in 2018 - Chetwood's first consumer brand. Most recently, Andrew led the definition of Chetwood's Mortgage Strategy and has guided the delivery of ModaMortgages since that time. Prior to Chetwood, Andrew spent 12 years with Barclays, including three years as Head of Strategy and then Head of Change for Barclays Mortgages. After leaving Barclays, Andrew worked for 11 years at financial service consultancy, Capco, ultimately leading the UK Wealth & Asset Management Practice.
Julian joined Chetwood Financial as Chief Operating Officer in late 2023, bringing with him more than 30 years’ experience in financial services and a strong record of building, growing, and transforming businesses. Over the course of his career, he has worked for a number of recognised brands, including First Rand, Siemens Southern Africa, National Savings & Investments, and Ford Credit Europe, where he led the development of Ford Money, a UK online savings bank. Julian also worked for Volkswagen Financial Services, where he led the development of their UK online savings bank, and Shawbrook Bank, where he oversaw the company’s operational and digital transformation.
Paul oversees ModaMortgage's risk management, credit risk and compliance activities. With 18 years of experience in various management and risk roles at Barclays, HSBC and Hitachi Capital (UK) PLC, he holds the expert knowledge to deliver the right balance between risk management and commercial delivery.
Sam is Director of Operations at Chetwood Financial. With over 22 years in the financial services sector, Sam has a proven track record in leading high-performance senior leadership teams across multiple functions and geographies with a focus on the customer. With extensive experience in retail banking and asset management, Sam previously led Customer Service Planning and Strategic Operations for the Bank of America and was responsible for Client Services and Customer Experience at Close Brothers Asset Management.
Darrell joined ModaMortgages in 2022 with a wealth of experience in the mortgage industry and a proven track record in delivering exceptional commercial advantages. As an expert senior bank and financial services leader with over 30 years of experience in banking and lending distribution, Darrell was part of the senior team at Shawbrook Bank before joining ModaMortgages. Additionally, he has held several previous senior roles with OneSavings Bank, Legal & General and Lloyds Banking Group.
Iqbal joined ModaMortgages in January 2022 following more than 25 years of financial services experience working in senior credit risk roles relating to specialist buy to let and residential mortgages. Prior to joining ModaMortgages, Iqbal spent more than 13 years at Precise Mortgages as part of the launch team for the specialist lender. Iqbal has also held roles in Credit Risk at Coventry Building Society and NatWest Mortgage Services.
As Director of Marketing Roselle is responsible for the marketing strategy and the brands at Chetwood Financial. Roselle is a marketing professional, with 23 years of experience in financial services at senior management level providing strategic direction, setting strategy, and specialising in brand creation. To date, Roselle has created some of the financial service industry’s leading specialist lender and challenger bank brands, such as the award-winning Precise Mortgages, Charter Savings Bank and Charter Court Financial Services brands. Roselle was also fundamental in the nurturing and growth of the FTSE 250 brands, OSB Group (One Savings Bank), Kent Reliance for Intermediaries, Kent Reliance and InterBay Commercial.
Head of Mortgage Operations
Matt boasts 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He has held senior underwriting positions at the likes of MQube, Precise Mortgages and Lloyds Banking Group, demonstrating expertise in underwriting a wide variety of loans, including buy to let, limited companies, portfolio landlords and residential. Matt joined Chetwood Financial as part of the ModaMortgages team in late 2023.
Edward is an experienced product manager, with more than a decade spent working in the financial services industry. He is skilled in customer relationship management and troubleshooting, and has strong product management experience in residential, buy to let, short-term, second charge, and commercial lending. Edward previously spent almost eight years at Precise Mortgages and more than two years with OneSavings Bank Group before joining Chetwood Financial in 2023.
